Go-Kan-Ryu Karate

style was founded by Robert Sullivan in 1984 in Adelaide, South Australia – Australia.

GKR is a non-contact karate, with a heavy emphasis on strong basics, kata (patterns) and kumite (sparring). Robert Sullivan has developed a strong sense of etiquette, loyalty and mutual respect that carries through to each instructor and student.

Since its inception, GKR has grown to become one of the most popular karate organisations in the world, with well over 40,000 students taking part in classes on a weekly basis in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the USA.

With over 1500 instructors and 400 full time personnel, GKR has established strong foundations to sustain continued growth without compromising on its main focus - teaching quality karate.

Students as young as 5 years of age right through to people well into their seventies can all enjoy the many benefits that training with GKR Karate can offer, from learning a self defence, to improving fitness, to gaining confidence and inner security.
